Annelaing Again As you can see, there is nothing sophisticated involved in annealing. After annealing the billet was more oxidized than before:  At this point, the billet has been flattened to half its original thickness, and it has been fully softened by annealing. We are now ready to start the process of doubling the number of layers to twelve.
