Trimmed Edges Here is the billet after trimming all the edges. Note how the billet is as square as I could make it. This will have to be ground smooth before proceeding. The billet will be cut in half to make two equal pieces, and the more equal they are, the less gold you will use. Having smooth edges both aids in measuring and reduces the layer overhang in the next steps.
