    Finally, Rings!

    At this point the blanks are technically rings, since the ends are joined, even if they're not very pretty yet. The solder was applied only from the outside of the ring,


    but the true test of the quality of the soldered joint was ensuring that the solder filled the entire gap. Sure enough, there was solder on the inside of the rings:


    To test the strength of the bond (because I didn't want it to fail later), I hammered the rings into ellipses and back. The bond held tight!
