U.S. Silver 1oz. Round - "The American Prospector" Source: Bought, Colonial Trading Co. Purity - 99.9% This coin was purchased from a bullion shop. Upon purchase, the coin was dirty. So I set up an electrochemical cleaning system: I put a beaker on a hot plate, heated to about 80C, dissolved baking soda (NaHCO3) until no more would dissolve, and put the coin in on top of a lot of aluminum foil. This system reduced the tarnish (silver sulfide) to silver metal, and oxidized the aluminum foil. |
