Lead Brick Source: My Lab Purity: 99% This sample demonstrates one of the many uses of lead - it's really heavy! With a density of around 13.1g/cm3, it's almost twice as dense as steel, and we use this brick of lead as a weight for holding things down. |

Bucket O' Lead Pellets Source: My Lab, My Thesis Project! Purity: 99.99% These lead pellets come from my personal stock of lead for my Lead-Bismuth corrosion experiments for my thesis. Since I only have a scant 225 pounds left, I only took a picture of a bucket full before I stuck it in the furnace with Bismuth to be melted into Lead-Bismuth Eutectic. The pellets are coated in an oxide, which forms readily in air. |
