Ra - Radium Radium is a naturally occurring radioactive element. Its radioactivity was once used to create self-luminous watch dials (shown here). These watch dials contained a radium paint mixed with a scintillator, such as zinc sulfide, which would cause it to glow for years. Workers that painted the dials often licked the brushes, causing many cases of radiation poisoning. | |||||||||||||||||
